John Abraham BREAKS Silence on Getting 'Angry' at Journalist at Vedaa Event: 'I Lost Because...'
Bollywood actor John Abraham opens up about being criticised on Koffee With Karan, overcoming setbacks, and his relentless focus on work.

John Abraham has opened up about his experiences in Bollywood and the harsh criticism he’s faced over the years. Reflecting on old seasons of Koffee with Karan, podcaster Ranveer Alhabadia noted how John was often criticised on the show, prompting him to wonder what kind of challenges the Bollywood actor had endured in the industry.

John shared a particularly revealing experience from that time. “Why Koffee with Karan? At that time, there were many film magazines and their editors. One editor had released a special issue titled ‘John Abraham is Over,’ and I was on the cover. They interviewed all the distributors, exhibitors, producers, directors, actors, female actors, and everyone was more often than not in agreement that I was finished,” John recalled as he sat down with Ranveer on The Ranveer Show.

In a twist of fate, the very editor who had passed this harsh judgment is now one of John’s producers. Despite this, John never questioned their motives, even when the editor confessed, “I didn’t want to see you succeed.” When John asked why, the editor simply replied, “Just like that, there was no reason.”

From this experience, John learned an important lesson about life. He explained, “There are people who may not have any reason, honestly Ranveer, maybe they had many problems at home, life issues, the toxicity within them, just like today’s trolling, you see that.” Instead of letting it affect him, John chose to focus on his work. “I always say that I’m like a horse with blinkers, I wear blinkers here and just look ahead. People will criticise,” he noted.

John also shared a recent incident from ‘Vedaa’ press conference, where he was “intentionally” provoked. “I know that one person was planted there to rile me up, to antagonise me, to make me angry. And I want to say that they won and I lost because I got angry,” John admitted. He expressed his disdain for such events, saying, “I don’t like trailer launches because you time travel 20 years back, the same journalists, the same absurd questions, no one is asking the right questions, and entertainment journalism in India, according to me, is finished.”

“Within a minute, I got back on track, and I thought, no, I need to focus on myself,” he said. He emphasised that the most important thing is to stay focused on one’s work. “That’s my motto in life, that I need to work, do good work. I don’t need to go to parties, network, I don’t read comments in life,” John stated.

In fact, John made a surprising revelation. “I don’t have any social media on my phone, which is very strange, I don’t even have WhatsApp, nothing. So I don’t get affected, so I’m happy.”
