Actor Anupam Kher completed 40 years in the entertainment industry on May 25. He has starred in over 540 films in his four-decade-long career. He will be next seen in the film Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan. He will don the role of Guru Shambhu in the film. In a recent press event, Anupam Kher shared that the first role he played in his life was that of a monkey in Lord Hanuman’s army. He was in fifth standard at that time. Chota Bheem and the Curse Of Damyaan is directed by Rajiv Chilaka and is slated to be released in theatres on May 31. In the song launch event of the film, Anupam Kher walked down memory lane and recalled his first outing as an actor. At the event, he was seen holding a mace in his hand. “Can you believe it? I am holding a ‘gada’ right now, and my first-ever role, the first-ever, was of a monkey in Lord Hanuman’s army. I was then in the fifth standard. This is the first time after school that I am holding a ‘gada’. I feel like a ‘Bada Bheem’,” said Anupam Kher during the launch of songs Jamboora and Zara Muskura from the live-action film Chota Bheem.
Anupam Kher debuted with the film Saaransh. It was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It starred the likes of Rohono Hattangadi, Soni Razdan, Madan Jain and Nilu Phule in the lead roles. Anupam Kher has always been courageous as he chose the role of a father in his debut film. His other acclaimed films include Khosla Ka Ghosla, Buddha Mar Gaya, A Wednesday, Baby and The Kashmir Files.
At the event, Anupam Kher shared his experience of being in the company of the child artists in his upcoming film. He said that he learned a lot from the actors around him. “They are children of this generation. Trust me, I have done a lot of movies with child artists in my career, but these kids are very straight, they are modern, aware, and know how to use the mobile phone,” he said.
