How Sunil Dutt Helped Vinod Khanna Debut In Bollywood

It is Vinod Khanna, who has showcased his versatility with roles in action and romantic films and has also portrayed a negative role. Fans loved to see Vinod Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan starring together in a film. The duo did 10 films together- Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Batwara, Parvarish, Khoon Pasina, Hera Pheri and Zameer, to name a few.

As per reports, Vinod Khanna met Sunil Dutt at a party. At that time, Sunil Dutt’s younger brother, Som Dutt was making a film titled Man Ka Meet under his home production. Sunil Dutt was looking for a new actor to portray the role of his brother in the film. He offered the role to Vinod Khanna and this marked the debut of the star in Bollywood.

Vinod Khanna worked in 144 films and delivered many hits. But from 1980 to 1987, his three films took the box office by storm. His film Qurbani was released in 1980 and was helmed by Feroz Khan under his home productions, FK Internation. The film also starred Zeenat Aman, Amjad Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Aruna Irani, Amrish Puri and Kader Khan. It proved to be the highest-grossing film of that year. The next film that created a stir was Rajput in 1982. The rom-com was a box office hit. In 1987, he starred in another super hit film Insaaf which featured Dimple Kapadia and Suresh Oberoi.

Vinod Khanna was last seen in the film Guns of Banaras in 2020. The star was battling advanced bladder cancer and breathed his last on April 27, 2017. He was hospitalised at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai.
