Dhanush, who recently appeared in the Arun Matheswaran-directorial Captain Miller, has now started working on his upcoming project which is tentatively titled D51. For the film, he will be collaborating with National Award-winning director Sekhar Kammula. Reportedly, D51 will also feature Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna in crucial roles. The film went on floors a few weeks back, following which Dhanush’s first look from the sets went viral. The shooting of the film – Dhanush’s Telugu debut – was taking place in Tirupati recently. A video clip from the shoot of the film from that location is being widely circulated on social media. It reveals Dhanush’s look from the film. The clip portrays the actor in a messy appearance, further creating anticipation around his character. He sports torn, loose clothes paired with long unkempt open hair. It made netizens wonder whether he is playing a beggar in the film.

Reports also suggest that the film was being shot in Tirupati on Tuesday, January 30 when a large crowd flocked in for a glimpse of the actor, causing severe traffic jam in the area. Following the traffic jam, the police interfered and halted the shoot.
The makers of the film have reportedly narrowed down on a title for this film. As per the Gulte update, the Dhanush starrer has been titled Dharavi, which means that the film will be set against the backdrop of Mumbai.
Rashmika Mandanna, who has been roped in to play the lead opposite Dhanush in the film, expressed her excitement in an interview saying, “I always wanted to work with Dhanush Sir; so much because I feel like he is a performer to the core and when you perform with such amazing performers, you have to improve and you will improve and I am excited that I know that I am gonna learn a lot from him.”
Dhanush’s D51 was officially announced back in July 2023 on the occasion of his birthday. The film has been bankrolled by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao.
