Dhananjaya is one of the popular actors in the Kannada cinema industry. After winning the SIIMA Award for his debut film Director’s Special, the actor never looked back and gave several hits like Yajamana, Pogaru, Yuvarathnaa, Salaa, Badava Rascal, Popcorn Monkey and others. He got a breakthrough with the film Tagaru in 2018. Dhananjaya will now be gracing the silver screens with the film Jingo. He will be playing the lead role in the movie. Daredevil Musthafa fame director Sashank Soghal has directed the film. It is jointly produced by B Narendra Reddy and Dhananjaya, under the banner of Trishul Visionary Studios and Daali Pictures. The film is written by Haaris Ahamad. The makers have released the character introduction video of Dhananjaya on the occasion of his birthday yesterday, on August 23. The clip has gone viral now.
The video starts with Dhananjaya entering a room full of guns, swords and other weapons. He initially tries guns and stands in a shooting stance. He forsakes it and goes towards the sword and then opens a drawer to take out a box which had a microphone in it. In a particularly bold twist, the protagonist, surrounded by a room filled with ballistic arms, chooses a microphone as his weapon of choice. He takes the microphone and goes to the stage among the masses to drive them for revolution.
As the video goes on, Dhananjaya narrates a story of a flock of sheep who are being hunted by hyenas, leopards, a lion, a tiger and other animals. As the flock of sheep runs for their life, a man stands between the hunter and prey, to protect them. Dhanajaya calls himself their saviour and becomes a part of the revolution.
The film challenges traditional storytelling, blending satire and social commentary with the intensity of an anti-hero narrative. With Shashank Soghal and Dhananjaya exploring unconventional themes and daring storytelling, Jingo is poised to push the boundaries of Kannada cinema.
Dhananjaya was last seen in the Tamil film Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan. It was directed by Vijay Milton. It starred Vijay Antony alongside R Sarathkumar, Sathyaraj, Megha Akash and Murali Sharma in the prominent roles.
