Bollywood and Indian cricket fans all across the country rejoiced when it was announced that Ranveer Singh will play the titular role in Kapil Dev's biopic 83. It seems like they have more reasons to be pleased about as Deepika Padukone can be roped in to play the former cricketer's wife Romi Bhatia.
According to the reports, the film’s director Kabir Khan believes that Deepika Padukone will be an ideal choice. Deccan Chronicle reports that the actress has been approached by the makers and apparently have received a positive response from her.
“Her role requires just seven days of shooting. The filmmakers believe the part where Romi Bhatia left the stadium mid-way assuming that West Indies will win the 1983 World Cup final, and the difficulties she encountered in coming back into the stadium when India was on the verge of winning, can be well emoted by Deepika,” the publication quoted a source as saying.
Ranveer and Deepika have worked together in films like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Ram-Leela and their pairing was applauded by the audience. The two tied in the knot in a fiercely private wedding in Italy and thereafter hosted multiple receptions in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
On the professional front, Ranveer was last seen in Simmba opposite Sara Ali Khan and is busy promoting his next film Gully Boy which is slated to release on 14th February. On the other hand, Deepika will soon start shooting for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, a biopic on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
