Christina Sandera, the longtime partner of actor-filmmaker Clint Eastwood, has died at the age of 61. A Warner Bros. representative issued a statement on Thursday night, sharing Eastwood’s tribute to Sandera. “Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” Eastwood said, as per the Hollywood Reporter. No official cause of death has been disclosed as of yet.
Us Weekly first revealed their romantic connection in June 2014, reporting that Sandera worked at Eastwood’s Mission Ranch restaurant and hotel in Carmel, California. At the time, Eastwood was still married to his second wife, former TV reporter Dina Ruiz, but the couple divorced six months later after 17 years of marriage.
Sandera, who wasn’t involved in the entertainment industry, had been a fixture at Eastwood’s side during various red-carpet events and award shows. A longtime Carmel resident, she had been in a relationship with Eastwood for over a decade.
Eastwood briefly served as mayor of Carmel in 1986, reports NY Post. The couple’s relationship was relatively low-key, but they made occasional public appearances together.
The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2015 Academy Awards, when the Eastwood-directed American Sniper got six nominations. She also accompanied Eastwood at premieres of Sully (2016), The Mule (2018), The 15:17 to Paris (2018), and Richard Jewell (2019) on the red carpet.
Before his relationship with Sandera, Clint Eastwood was married twice. His first marriage was to model Maggie Johnson from 1953 to 1984, and his second marriage was to TV reporter Dina Ruiz from 1996 to 2014.
Clint Eastwood has eight children, two sons and six daughters. His sons are Kyle and Scott. Scott Eastwood is also an actor and has followed in his father’s footsteps in the entertainment industry.
