Pop star Ariana Grande recently expressed feeling “disheartened" and issued an apology to actress Cassandra Peterson, famously known as Elvira, after discovering that she had unintentionally offended her in the past. During a Halloween event at Knott’s Berry Farm in California, Elvira recounted her worst celebrity encounter, revealing that the Thank U, Next singer had once declined to take a photo with her.
Peterson shared that when Ariana attended her event with a group of friends and family, she graciously agreed to take photos with everyone—except for Elvira. This unexpected refusal left the Halloween queen surprised. Following the resurgence of Elvira’s story in the headlines, Ariana acknowledged her previous actions, explaining that she didn’t recall the encounter due to experiencing an “anxiety attack" at the time.
After The Working Girls star shared this past incident on Instagram, Ariana decided to share her side of the story in the comments section. She wrote, “I’m so disheartened to see this. I actually don’t even remember getting the chance to meet you because I had an anxiety attack and to my memory, left before the rest of my family (this was around 7 years ago and at the time I was really not great with being in public crowds or loud places) but if I’m misremembering this moment, I sincerely apologize for offending you so. Thank you for being so nice to my mom, she told me how lovely you were. You’ll always be our queen of Halloween."
Recalling the incident at the recent Halloween event, Elvira explained, “She came and she brought 20 guests. So she wanted 21 tickets. We’re like, ‘Okay,’ and we give her the tickets and she comes backstage and she asks if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives she brought. I take a picture with every single one of them, I sign autographs for every single one of them. Then I say to her, ‘Could we take a photo together,’ and she goes, ‘No, I don’t really do that.’ I mean, come on, okay and then she left before my show started. All her relatives stay and she took off."
After she concluded, someone from the audience yelled, “She’s playing the wrong witch," referring to Ariana Grande’s upcoming role in the Wicked movie, where she plays the good witch, Glinda, opposite, Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba.
The first part of Wicked is scheduled to be released on November 22, while part two will be released a year later, on November 26, 2025.
