For years, Aditya Chopra has handpicked and groomed some of the best actors and directors of our generation who have gone on to carve their names in the Indian film industry. Looks like Adi is now mentoring Shiv Rawail to be the next big thing in Bollywood. He has been roped in to helm Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s spy film, as per reports.
“Shiv‘s debut directorial for YRF, The Railway Men, is a humongous hit and he is the talk of the town today. He is young and has a brilliant pulse on what the youth would want to consume as entertainment as is evident with the global success that he has delivered under the guidance of Aditya Chopra. Thus, Adi is confident that he is the best director to helm the young female-led action entertainer from the YRF Spy Universe that stars Alia Bhatt in the lead with the rising star of the industry, Sharvari,” informs a trade source.
Shiv, who was an Assistant Director in many of Aditya Chopra’s films, recently delivered a global blockbuster streaming series The Railway Men on Netflix. It went on to become the No. 1 show across South Asia and soared to third position in the global charts! The Railway Men is the debut series produced by YRF Entertainment, the streaming production arm of Yash Raj Films. The Railway Men is also the first and the only show from India to stay on the global charts for eight weeks straight, thereby making history.
The film, where Alia and Sharvari are due to play “super agents,” will commence production in 2024.
Created by Aditya Chopra, the Spy Universe kicked off with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012) and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017), and continued with ‘War’ (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff.
Then came the all-time blockbuster, ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The last film from the Spy Universe was ‘Tiger 3’ starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. All films from this fabled franchise have been hits!
