After Fighter, Hrithik Roshan Wants To Do Comedy Films Like The Hangover
Hrithik Roshan recently opened up about his desire to explore a new genre in his next project after Fighter.

Currently basking in the roaring success of his action film Fighter, Hrithik Roshan, the leading actor in the movie, opened up about his desire to explore a new genre in his next project. Over the years, Hrithik has traversed diverse genres within the Indian film industry. However, there’s a specific cinematic space that has captured his interest – situational straight-faced comedy.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, the actor expressed, “There’s one thing that I’m really dying to do but the stars haven’t aligned and I haven’t found the script which is this situational straight-faced comedy. But I don’t see that kind of stuff being written.”

Addressing the scarcity of compelling scripts in the situational straight-faced comedy genre, the Vikram Vedha actor explained, “What happens is that when we look at comedy, I don’t even mind if it’s dark. That’s also something I would be okay with but when I see comedy happening and being written, they’re trying to make you laugh and everyone’s aware of it that this is funny.”

He also talked about his search for a narrative akin to the American comedy film Hangover. Describing the ideal scenario, he shared, “The kind of stuff that I’m looking for is more like a Hangover where 4-5 different characters, actors who are completely embedded in the integrity of those characters. They are put into situations which motivate each actor to react in the way their character would react. So, it is left to the actor that how would you react to this.”

The actor emphasised the challenge of crafting situational comedy, highlighting the subtlety required where the actor remains serious while the audience finds humour in the circumstances. Acknowledging the difficulty in cracking this genre, Roshan underlined that it has been successfully done multiple times in the industry.

Switching gears to his potential collaboration with filmmaker Siddharth Anand, who expressed interest in working on a romantic comedy with Hrithik, the Super 30 star revealed, “I have just been through three transformations. If Sid makes a romcom now, I’ll have to kill myself to get back in shape.” Firmly declining the offer at the moment, Hrithik explained that he needs time to return to that specific physical mould.

Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter also featured Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. The movie was released in theatres on January 25. He was previously seen in Vikram Vedha, alongside Saif Ali Khan. In his upcoming projects, Hrithik has War 2, where Jr NTR will reportedly be playing the antagonist.
