Yogakshema Sabha state meet begins

KALADY:  Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya, has been spruced up to hold the state meeting of the Yogakshema Sabha which will be inaugurated by Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan at NAS Auditorium here at 9.30 am on Saturday.Sree Sankarananda Brahmananda Valiya Mooppil Swamiyar will light the traditional lamp. Excise Minister K Babu will distribute the awards and trophies to the winners of the competitions conducted under the auspices of the Sabha.Yogakshema Sabha state president Kalidasa Bhattathirippad will preside over the inaugural session. Youth Welfare Minister P K Jayalakshmi will inaugurate the women’s meet at 2 pm.The meeting of the joint council will be inaugurated by K S Vasudeva Sarma, political secretary of the Chief Minister. P C Vishnunath MLA will inaugurate the youth meet.Vezhapparambu Krishnan Namboodiripad will inaugurate the Acharya Sadas at 7 pm, said organising committee general convener T R V Namboodiri.Former Union minister O Rajagopal will inaugurate the seminar on Sankara Darsan on Sunday at 10 am. The cultural meet will be inaugurated by Cultural Affairs Minister A P Anilkumar at 12 noon. The new office-bearers of the Yogakshema Sabha will be elected at the state conference.A procession, which will begin from Adi Sankara Keerthi Mandapam, will conclude at NAS auditorium. Opposition Deputy Leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will be the chief guest at the valedictory meeting of the state convention at 4 pm.The Mahaganapathy Homam on Friday marked the beginning of the Yogakshema Sabha state meet. A business meeting of the Sabha was held on Friday evening.Sringeri Madathipathi Jagadguru Sankaracharya Sri Bharati Theertha Mahaswamikal, Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Madathipathi Jayendra Saraswathi Mahaswamikal and Thekkemadam Mooppil Swamikal are the patrons of the organising committee of the state conference, said Sabha secretary K M Parameswaran Namboodiri.
