Yesteryear singers honoured

KOCHI: Singers P Susheela, S Janaki and P Jayachandran were conferred the Symphony Lifetime Achievement Awards under the category of ‘Legends of South Indian Music’. The event was held at the JT Performing Arts Centre auditorium at Tripunithura.Gayathri and Mohammed Aslam won the Kristal Symphony Young Achievers Award. The Symphony Award includes a trophy, a citation and a cash award of `50,000. The Young Achievers Award carries a trophy, a citation and a cash award of `20,000. Union Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal, Excise Minister K Babu, Advisor to Prime Minister T K A Nair and Padmashri Mohanlal were the guests of honour.The award function was followed by a musical programme led by Vidhu Pratap, Kalabhavan Sabu, Mohammed Aslam, Gayathri, Rajalekshmi and Aparna Rajeev.
