Writer S Ramakrishnan honoured

CHENNAI: Tamil Literary Garden of Toronto, Canada, has Honoured Tamil writer S Ramakrishnan with a Lifetime Literary Achievement Award in Tamil for the year 2011.  The award, ‘Iyal Virudhu’, is for his life time achievement in literary contribution to the Tamil literature. Started in 2001, the award is given annually to a person whose contribution to Tamil literature is valuable, substantial and deeply influential. The awards committee, after reviewing every nomination, takes into consideration all aspects of Tamil studies, including scholarship, pedagogy and translations. He is the 11th recipient of this prestigious international award.In connection with this,  one of the popular Tamil publishing houses ‘Uyirmai’ is to organise a grand felicitation programme for the writer on Feb 2 at Kamaraj Memorial Hall, Teynampet. Actor Rajinikanth will preside over the function and present the memento to the writer. Other eminent personalities who will be part of the event are Kavi perarasu Vairamuthu, Indra Parthasarathy, Bharathi Krishnakumar, Professor Gnanasambandham, Vijayshankar, SA Perumal, Iraiyanbhu IAS, and Balakrishnan IAS.
