Woman dies in hospital, husband held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 25-year-old woman, residing at Attingal near here, succumbed to serious head injuries she suffered after being bludgeoned by her husband  with an iron rod. The deceased has been identified as Nisha.The police have arrested her husband, Santhosh, in connection with the incident.According to the police, Santhosh, an autorickshaw driver, was living separately after Nisha opposed his addiction to alcohol.On Thursday, Santhosh reached her house and soon they entered into an argument. An agitated Santhosh grabbed an iron rod and hit her on the head. She was immediately taken to the Medical College here, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit.However, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday afternoon. The couple has a five-year-old daughter, Sanisha.
