THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman from Cheriyathura alleged that the police were hesitant to register a case on various counts against her husband. Francina Anthony of Cheriyathura who had worked for 30 years in Sharjah said that Showkathali of Kollam had married her by concealing the fact that he was married and then fleeced Rs 10 crore from her.In a statement issued to the media, she said that Showkathali had married her in Mumbai in 1981.This was done by concealing the fact that he was married and had five children. While she was working as a housemaid in Sharjah, her husband floated a company with the salary earned by the complainant. He then cheated her by taking her money and fled the country.She also alleged that the accused had changed his passport and is currently using a fake passport. According to her, Showkathali who had not completed matriculation, had acquired a bogus engineering degree certificate.According to her, a formal complaint was submitted with the police but they were hesitant to register a case.Following this, she had taken up the issue with top police officers and they directed Valiyathura police to registered a case. But the case has not been registered still, she alleged.
