Mahesh Bhupathi and his German partner Alexander Waske faced Round One exit in doubles at Wimbledon.
London: Wimbledon woes continued for India and after Sania Mirza's ouster from the singles event on Wednesday, Mahesh Bhupathi and his German partner Alexander Waske faced Round One exit in doubles at the All England Club here on Thursday.
The 13th seed Indo-German combine faltered at the crucial moments and went down 6-7 (2), 3-6, 6-7 (7) to the unseed pair of Canadian Frederic Niemeyer and Glenn Weiner of the United States.
After losing the first set on tie-breaker, Bhupathi-Waske surrendered 3-6 in the second and were looking down the barrel of the gun.
They fought to stay in the match and stretched the decider to the tie-breaker. However, Niemeyer-Weiner held their nerves and serves to win the set and the match.
