New Delhi: Popular messaging app WhatApp has started rolling out a new update for Android devices. The update comes with a new feature that lets users mute groups for as long as they want. Users can mute any group for "8 hours" to as long as "1 century".

Once you have put a group on mute mode, you won't get sound alerts for notifications for that particular group, but the messages will appear in the notification tray. Besides, if you want to get rid of notifications for a particular group, you can simply uncheck "Show notifications". You will be able to see messages from other members of the group in the chat window, but you won't be notified for those messages.

With the new update, the company has also positioned the camera icon next to the microphone icon for sending voice-messages in the bottom-right corner of the chat window. Tapping on the camera icon would activate your phone's camera.

The update that includes these features isn't, at the time of posting this, available on Google Play, but WhatsApp is expected roll this out soon. You can download the updated app from the comapny's official website or click here here to get the updated app.
