BHUBANESWAR: As many as 31 volunteers of Red Cross were imparted hands-on training on ‘Emergency preparedness and response” by the Indian Red Cross Society’s (IRCS) State branch here. All the volunteers hailed from Kashipur, Gunupur and Bisamkatak blocks of Rayagada which has borne the brunt of public health disorder such as cholera and malaria. According to honorary secretary of IRCS Dr Mangala Prasad Mohanty, the volunteers were sensitised and oriented on health-related emergency so that they are able to deliver necessary services to the community during the crisis. The volunteers were also trained on water, sanitation, nutrition and health issues by the experts besides being oriented about health schemes.
