BANGALORE: Sowmyashree Pani, an Indian Idol participant does not seem deterred by her loss at the competition. Instead, she is geared up to come back with a bang. “I never knew that I could sing until I was eight. It was my elder sister who discovered the talent in me,” says Pani. She has trained for two years in professional Odishi vocal. “I loves ghazals and Bollywood music, says the singer who is inspired by Latha Mangeshkar. She gave her first stage performance in a ‘Bhajan Mala’. After sending over 70 messages to Sony India, she finally got herself registered. As she missed the Bhubhaneshwar auditions, she gave it in Kolkata. Though Tujse Naaras Nahin Zindagi got her through the next round, she could not participate due to her board exams. “I am sorry that I could not make it, but the experience has taught me how to make clear choices in life. Her tryst in Idol has made her one of the most popular kids in the neighbourhood. “My uncle’s colleague recommended a lyricist and that gave me the ticket to venture into  Oriya movies. I did a song called Kuanri Prema. Once I am done with my PGDM at Acharya School of Management I will focus more on commercial singing,” she further added.
