BANGALORE: Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University (BU) Dr N Prabhu Dev, who had promised to address the issues related to the functioning of the university, failed to attend the Syndicate meeting on Thursday. When a group of Syndicate members demanded to fulfil their demands, the previous special Syndicate meeting was abruptly adjourned by the VC on May 7 with a promise that it would be taken up on May 17. The Syndicate members on Thursday arrived with the expectation that VC would come for the meeting, but to their disappointment, he did not arrive. “It is clear that the VC is not concerned about the administration and development of the university,” a member said. Most issues, the syndicate members stated, are being passed as orders without bringing to their notice and alleged that the VC “is sabotaging the democratic rights of the syndicate members.” They also expressed concern that the VC’s term is getting over next February and it is a wonder how pending developments will be addressed before he lays down the office.
