In a horrific accident happened in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nisha Napit Sharma was murdered by her husband Manish Sharma by Smothering her mouth with a pillow on Monday, said the police.

The crime occurred at her official residence in the district on Sunday and the 45-year-old accused husband tried to hide the evidence by cleaning the clothes, pillow, bedsheets, and others in the washing machine, quoted news agency, ANI to the officer as saying.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG, Balaghat range) Mukesh Kumar Srivastava said to the news agency, “SDM Nisha Napit Sharma was married to Manish Sharma, a resident of Gwalior in 2020 at a Gayatri Mandir in Mandla. Their married life was quite stressful and Manish Sharma also used to trouble her. Along with this, he also wanted to be a nominee in her service book, insurance, and bank account but the SDM ma’am used to deny it.”

The officer said that a few days ago, the accused had come to her official residence as he was her husband so he often used to visit the residence. On Sunday, after having a dispute with her, Sharma killed her by pressing her mouth with a pillow.

Later, he also tried to hide the evidence by cleaning pillow, bedsheets, and other clothes in the washing machine. But the police and FSL team found enough evidence against him, said the officer.

Sharma is now in custody and police have registered a case under IPC sections 302, 304B, and 201.

Ms Napit’s sister, Nilima Napit, accused Sharma of murdering her sister and asserted that he used to torture her for money, reported NDTV.

“He used to harass Nisha for money. My sister did not have any disease. Manish has done something wrong. He even didn’t let the house help enter Nisha’s room,” she claimed according to the report.

Nilima Napit told to media persons that even though Sharma tried to paint it as a normal death and said that her sister was suffering from a kidney ailment, the officer’s sister refused to buy her theory. “I am sure her husband murdered her. He used to torture her physically and mentally,” she said.
