Two teenage girls found dead in pond at Mahapar

Bodies of two teenage girls missing since Sunday were found in a pond on Monday in Mahapar area, 4km away from Barmer city, police said.

The deceased were identified as Sakku(16) and Kavita(14), Investigating Police Officer of Sadar police station Bhanwar Singh Rajpurohit said on telephone.

The girls who were cousin sisters had gone missing from home since Sunday, and their parents found their sleepers and belongings near the pond, Rajpurohit said.

Previously too there were a few suicide cases reported in the pond, he said.

Prima facie it appeared to be a suicide case, and the bodies were sent for post mortem, he said, adding the exact reason of their death was yet to be ascertained.
