THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two striking nurses who were participating in the strike at Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation near Venjaramoodu, were shifted to Medical College Hospital on Tuesday night after they complained of nausea.Those who were shifted to the hospital were Nizam and Sumi. They were among the nurses who were participating in a sit-in outside the college.“When one of our colleague called Nizam he did not respond. On spraying water on his face, he regained consciousness but immediately started vomiting. He was taken to Vamanapuram hospital and was later shifted to Medical College hospital in an ambulance,” said Joseph Paul, one of the members of the Students Agitation Council.He said that witnessing the incident another nurse Sumi fainted and she was also taken to the Medical College hospital. Meanwhile, the Students Agitation Council said that 35 more women nursing staff would join the strike from Wednesday.The parleys, mediated by district labour officer, between the hospital management and representatives of the striking nurses on Saturday, had ended in deadlock with both sides sticking to their stands.
