Mumbai: The city police have arrested two persons in connection with the rape of an NRI in the city on Saturday.

The two accused - Sunil Multhani and Suresh Krishnani - were picked up by the police late on Saturday night for raping the 20-year-old South Africa-based Indian-origin girl.

"The two accused were arrested from the Ulhasnagar area around 9:30 pm. We are presently interrogating them," Prahlad Sonawale, ACP, said.

According to the police, the accused were identified after one of them left his visiting card with the victim. They will be produced in the Bandra court on Sunday.

According to the FIR filed by the victim, an asipiring model-actor, she went to a pub called Avalon in Vile Parle after dinner, where she was accosted by two men.

The girl ignored them and went into the bar. She sat at the counter and had a drink. The girl has alleged that her drink was doctored with while she was in the bathroom.

The men offered to drop her back home as she felt sick - but instead drove to a parking lot where they repeatedly raped her and beat her with a belt.

The parking lot is about 100 yards from the Vile Parle police station. The men, then, dropped her off outside the Lokhandwala complex, in the suburb of Andheri.

The incident is shocking especially as the hotel is located right next to the high-security Mumbai airport and the police station is just 200 metres away.
