THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Road Improvement Project (CRIP) is being implemented by the Thiruvananthapuram Road Development Company Limited (TRDCL) as a model project which could be showcased while embarking on their future projects. It may be a setback to their mission, but the TRDCL is backtracking from the maintenance of landscaping. The company has written a letter to Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) on its decision to stop the beautification of CRIP roads. All this happened because of the ongoing CPM State conference. The hoardings, pavilions and festoons erected by the CPM men have not only damaged the landscaping in the city, but also undermined the beautification project which was going on smoothly for years. Taking a cue from the ‘CPM style,’ other companies and organisations too are erecting hoarding and flexes on roadsides and junctions.  The TRDCL men are being threatened for removing the hoardings. “We are being asked to take action against the CPM first,” said Anil Kumar Pandala, Project Director of CRIP.  The CPM has not responded to the notices served by the TRDCL. “People are all praise while talking about roads and walkways in foreign countries. But no one here dares to question this injustice. Where are the cultural leaders and business leaders? Nobody is speaking against the CPM for damaging the city roads,” said Pandala. “Our workers have stopped watering the grass,” he added. The TRDCL requires a minimum ` 8-10 lakh to renovate the stretches destroyed by the party men. The TRDCL has been instrumental in planting and nurturing thousands of saplings in the city.
