HYDERABAD: Private travels too, it seems, are bearing the brunt of the Sakala Janula Samme.Speaking to Express, staff at Sharma Travels said they had to cancel one of the buses out of the nine buses they normally operate to Bangalore as there was a drop in the number of passengers.Another private travel agency SKRTS said they would take the situation as it comes. “If we don’t run the bus it is a loss. If we run it, it’s a risk.We would rather guage the situation tomorrow. As of now, we believe we can operate,” Sharma, an employee at SKRTS travels said.It appears that this weekend, not many are willing to take the risk of travelling either out of State or even within the State.Hence, the visible dip in the number of passengers. As a result, several travel agencies refrained from hiking the bus fares. The general pricing for a ticket to Pune and Mumbai is Rs 850- Rs 900 if it’s an a/c bus and Rs 5oo for a non a/c bus.Though private travels hike prices in the weekend, they have had to keep it at bay this weekend. On the other hand, RTC officials said they are trying their best to arrange for inter- state and inter-district bus services.
