CHENNAI: The Indian High Commission (IHC)  in Kuala Lumpur has finally issued an Emergency Certificate (EC) to a Tamil Nadu-based crane operator Dilton, who was stuck in Malaysia for the past three months despite a doctor’s advice return home country. This would pave the way for his immediate return to India for further treatment.  Speaking to Express over phone from Kuala Lumpur, social activist T Kamalanathan, who pursued Dilton’s matter with the IHC officials said, “After dillydallying for about three months, the High Commission officials three days ago issued the certificate, which would help Dilton return to Tamil Nadu soon.” It may be noted that Express on September 7 had carried the plight of Dilton and his fight with the IHC for returning to India for specialised treatment for his psychiatric ailment.“After the detailed news report about Dilton’s plight in Kuala Lumpur in Indian media, IHC officials swung into action and asked Dilton to visit their office the very next day to complete formalities to issue an EC to him,” said Kamalanathan.The local police too had their role to find an amicable solution to the issue. Timely intervention by Sentul Police Station forced the High Commission act very quickly.Kamalanathan added that Dilton is likely to reach Chennai on Monday afternoon.
