PUDUCHERRY: Two students of a Villupuram engineering college bagged first prize in a poster competition held during an international workshop conducted by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).Divya Krishanmoorthy and G Durga Devi had made presentation on “Ultraviolet Radiation Control Measures” to win the prize during the workshop on “Environment an Alternative Energy” at Noordwijk in the Netherlands. They are second-year computer science and engineering (CSE) students of Mailam Engineering College in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu.The workshop was jointly organised by NASA, European Space Agency and Portuguese Centre for Pollution Prevention and was held at the European Space Research and Technology Centre in Netherlands from November 15 to 18.Of the nearly 2,000 proposals sent by students from all over the world, 15 entries were selected by the NASA scientists. The finalists included Durga Devi and Divya along with two from Italy, six from Portugal and five from the USA.The duo told ‘Express’ that they would be now looking in to the practical applications of their theory.
