Tirumala Nambi Temple, situated in Tamil Nadu, is one of the most famous temples in India. Thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu and states across India visit this temple to offer prayers. The Tirumala Nambi Temple is one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams located in the Western Ghats. The Tirumala Nambi Temple receives the most devotees during the summer. Similarly, the temple was crowded with devotees. However, visiting the temple was banned due to weather conditions.
Due to the unfavourable weather conditions and rainfall during the summer in the Tirukurungudi Western Ghats, The authorities have banned journeys to the Tirumala Nambi Temple. On May 18, the Tirukurungudi forest area was closed due to increased water flow in Nambiar in the Tirukurungudi Western Ghats. The ban got extended due to elephant census work. The forest area and the ways to the temple were opened soon after that. As the water flow decreased, the authorities decided to reopen the Tirumalainnambi temple for the devotees. The authorities opened the forest area on May 28.
In a tragic incident, a student drowned in the Nambi River, making the situation difficult again. On June 2, Udaya Saravanan went to bathe in the Nambia River and lost his life by drowning in the river. After the death of the student, the forest department announced plans to keep the pilgrimage closed for a certain time. They have announced that the forest area will be closed again. The devotees are prohibited from visiting the Thirumalainambi temple until the situation settles.
The Tirumala Nambi Temple is a place of historic significance. Thousands of people come to visit the temple each year. Tirumala is the abode of Lord Venkateswara, also known as Kaliyuga Vaikunta. It is one of the 108 Vaishnavite kshetras mentioned in the verses of the Divyaprabhandam. This sacred place is considered to be the holiest land in India. It is believed to be the sporting hill of the Lord, situated in Paramapada.
In the 11th century, a great devotee lived on the Sri Sailapurna hills. The devotee dedicated his whole life to the Lord and performed aradhana. The great devotee was the grandson of Yamuna Charya and none other than Peria Tirumala Nambi himself. He used to bring water from Papanasam to a place 8 kilometres away called Tirumala.
