Students got an opportunity to showcase their talent and absorb tips on acting at the workshop on film adaptation of Vaikom Mohammed Basheer’s ‘Balyakala Sakhi’.
Script writer John Paul spoke about the evergreen aspects of Basheer’s stories after inaugurating the three-day workshop organised for MG University College students at Maharaja’s College on Monday.
Many aspiring actors are participating in the programme.
Director and scriptwriter P Balachandran spoke on expressions in Basheer’s works and said that his works have relevance even today. The film adaptation of the story will be a new experience for the youth. The workshop is being held in association with the university unions of Kerala, MG and varsities to select actors for the film being directed by Pramod Payyanur.
The last phase of audition will be held for Calicut University students at Malabar Christian College on October 20.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the painting contest conducted by MG varsity on the theme Basheer’s rusticity.
Journalist Leela Menon, actor Cuckoo Parameswaran, actor Bhagat Murali, producer Sajeeb Shahim, M S Murali among other participated.
