Tiny glitch for Anna supporters on filling jails

HYDERABAD:Even as over a thousand supporters of Anna Hazare in Hyderabad are preparing to extend support to him through a threeday fast and have signed up to participate in the Jail Bharo Andolan, there is a tiny glitch in their plan. They have no clue how they would court arrest."We haven't planned it yet. Hopefully we shall receive directions from the Hazare camp and then consider our plan of action. Since most participants in the Jail Bharo movement will be people from respectable civil society positions, we need to plan accordingly," says Shashank, a social activist and member of India Against Corruption (IAC), Hyderabad chapter.But nevertheless, the city IAC is organising a threeday dharna and fast at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park on Dec 27, 28, 29, coinciding with Hazare's fast in Mumbai. "We aim to inform the citizens of the state on the weak aspects of the government backed Lokpal Bill. We want to reach out to the masses and ensure corruption is rooted out," said Deepak V Rao, a volunteer with the IAC.The team has been granted permission to stage the dharna but only in the day time from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Owing to security reasons, we have been denied permission for round the clock dharna," Deepak added.The threeday event would cost the team anything from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 for publicity, tents, water, medical services and security. But monetary contributions have already started pouring in, said YPR Krishna, another member. "Most of the donors are retired people or those who have been affected by corruption. They are ready to help in any way for the success of the movement," he added.He also did not feel that the Jail Bharo movement would be all talk and no action and said that 1,350 people have already registered in the group's website expressing interest in the same.
