Three Arrested on Charges of Religious Conversion in MP
According to police, the accused used to hold camps in rural areas and lured tribal men, women and kids into conversion with the help of two women who used to accompany them.

Khandwa: Police on Monday arrested three persons for allegedly trying to convert some local tribals to Christianity in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.

The arrested men were produced in a local court which remanded them to judicial custody.

According to reports, Sitaberi residents informed Piplod police that some men were trying to lure people to convert into Christianity.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested three men, Prabhakar Singh Barela, resident of Chopda Jalgaon; Amar Singh, resident of village Khaknar and Kishore Barela, resident of Barwani district.

"All the accused were taken to Khandwa and after a medical examination the trio was remanded to judicial custody," said Piplod station in-charge Shivram Patidar.

The police also claimed that the arrested men have confessed to converting some people in the past.

According to police, the accused used to hold camps in rural areas and lured tribal men, women and kids into conversion with the help of two women who used to accompany them.

"They had organised a similar camp in village Sitaberi and enticed tribal people into conversion saying it would shower them with wealth," claimed a local, Raju Barela, in his complaint to police.
