KOCHI: For the art lovers in the city, stained glass art will be on display at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium till Sunday. The three-day exhibition will focus on the display of distinctive, colourful and emotive expressions on the stained glass. The programme is organised by artist Prabhakaran Kanichar’s Glass Art Museum in collaboration with Infocare systems. Stained glass is considered one among the oldest art crafts from Europe. It had existed even before the concept of painting became famous. According to Kanichar’s team, stained glass is perceived as an artistic backwater, a craftsman’s field, far removed from the central dynamic of artistic evolution. The exhibition will see an astonishing mixture of art splashed on the tinted glass with abstract and Islamic designs. The exhibition will include the first ever glass painted sketches of Indian epics. Also, the Arabic art mixed with Victorian, Western and Indian styles displayed in the arabic countries will be showcased. In addition, there will be Traditional Islamic Designs, Domes, Natural Sceneries, Arabian Horses, Oryx, Peacock, Victorian and Gothic designs. The works on Buddha will be the catch of the exhibition. Stained glass paintings of biblical parables and history will also be exhibited. Kanichar has also transported the painting of Oman’s ruler Sultan Khaboos Bin Sayyed in a naval uniform to the city. This painting was presented to the King on his birthday “I want to capture our leaders and rulers who have created history in glass,” said Kanichar.
