BELGAUM: The Government of Goa has decided to organise a thanksgiving ceremony in Belgaum on November 5 for the district’s contribution to the liberation of Goa.Director of Art and Culture, Goa, Prasad Lolayekar said in a press conference here on Thursday that Goa government is organising the function at Maratha Mandir on November 5 and 6 and a local ‘Goa Liberation Struggle Committee’ (GLSC) has been constituted to make the event meaningful and ensure that it is a grand success. “A procession of tableaux, depicting scenes of the liberation struggle, will be taken out from Dharmaveer Sambhaji Chowk to Maratha Mandiron on November 5,” he gave details.GLSC working president Nagesh Sateri said photo and coin exhibition related to the liberation movement will be inaugurated by Mayor Manda Balekundri and Pt Prasad Savkar will present a concert on November 5. He also said that the play ‘Kahani Goa Muktichi’ will be presented by Natyankur team of Belgaum at 8 pm.Goa CM Digambar Kamath will preside over the public programme on November 6. A souvenir ‘Yashogatha Goa Muktichi’ will be released.
