CHENNAI: Eight State ministers here on Tuesday, on behalf of the employees of their departments, contributed a total amount of Rs.11.97 crore towards the relief works being done in the areas that were affected by cyclone Thane which struck in December last year. With this amount, the total contribution stood at Rs.128, 29,68,147. Those who handed over funds to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat here on Tuesday were: Higher Education Minister P Palaniappan (Rs.1.39 crore), Agriculture Minister S Damodaran (Rs.1.69 crore), Highways Minister K Palanisamy (Rs.90.60 lakh), Dairy Development Minister V Moorthy (Rs.74.62 lakh), Minister for Animal Husbandry TKM Chinnayya (Rs. 70.87 lakh), Handlooms Minister S Sundarraj (`25.02 lakh), Adi Dravida Welfare Minister N Subramanian (Rs. 88.31 lakh) and Health Minister V S Vijay (Rs. 5.39 crore).
