Telangana’s Karimnagar’s Sri Kashi Annapurna Anna Prasadam has been feeding hungry people for the past eight years.

Annadaan is considered to be supreme and unparalleled out of all the charities. Anna is rice, which is a staple diet in major parts of the Indian sub-continent. Sri Kashi Annapurna Anna Prasadam of Karimnagar under the auspices of Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Seva Samiti has been feeding the hungry for about eight years. It has also been providing three meals a day at the government hospital to patients and attendants.

Many temples, especially those dedicated to Goddess Annapurna Devi have an Annadanam scheme which helps feed the needy. Similarly, Telangana’s Karimnagar’s Sri Kashi Annapurna Anna Prasadam has been feeding the hungry people for the past eight years. It has been offering food to the town’s government hospital named Civil Hospital premises to patients and their families or attendants thrice a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Organiser Konda Satyanandam shared that with the help of donors, food facilities have been provided to the patients as well as the family members who stay back as attendants and others. According to him, they have been able to collect donations of Rs 2,500 per day from friends and donors who want to feed the hungry people.

While talking to Local18, Konda Satyanandam recalled an incident from his past, when he had to take his ailing father to Hyderabad. But they faced hardships as there was nothing to eat at the hospital. He shared that he did not want anyone else to face a similar situation and resolved to provide free meals to patients and attendants every day.

With his initiative and the help of thoughtful donors, the team has been able to feed many people. The free meal scheme has been a boon for the patients in the hospital and their families as well for the last eight years. He further urged others to come forward and donate their bit so that they can expand the free meal scheme to various other places as well, apart from the hospital. According to Konda, they have been serving breakfast and other meals to about 200 to 300 people.
