New delhi: Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is alive and in contact with leaders of Afghanistan’s Taliban insurgents, says a senior Taliban commander.

Mullah Dadullah, a Taliban leader, says Osama said it is not possible to meet Osama but he is hiding near the Afghan border in northwest Pakistan.

The Taliban leader told a British Channel that only his comrades see him, they exchange messages and share plans. He added that he had not met Bin Laden since the fall of the Taliban regime after the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

During the interview, Dadullah, the commander of Taliban operations in eastern and southeastern Afghanistan, is reported to have said that bin Laden had "not yet martyred". He added that such information would be easy to get as Bin Laden's comrades keep him informed.

He also said that British troops in Afghanistan face a fierce onslaught from Osama's brigade and that thousands of Osama's recruits are ready to become suicide bombers and attack NATO forces in Afghanistan.
