THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A couple of students of the SCT College of Engineering, Pappanamcode, have come out with a new website which provides detailed information on the complicated process of securing admission to an engineering course. The website, www.enguide.in, is a complete engineering guide in itself. It will be a useful link for all those who aspire to get admission to an engineering college in the state. The website has been created by Adhun Anand S R and Kiran Lawrence of the college. It is a free student resource aimed at demystifying the process of admission to engineering courses. The website has descriptions of the 24 technical courses in various colleges across the state. Details of various courses are provided in an easy-to-access format. The students who designed the website said that these descriptions were provided by senior faculty members of the best engineering colleges in the state. A uniquely attractive service provided in the website is the allotment predictor, which gives a list of the prospective courses that a student will be eligible for based on the rank and reservation details. The handy predictor even provides last rank details, the location of the colleges and contact details such as e-mail ID, official website and the phone number of the institutions. This predictor will help a student to select the best courses he or she can apply for through the allotment process of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE). The website also provides directions on how to fill your options in the centralised allotment process website www.cee-kerala.gov.in. This will familiarise plus-two students with the intricate processes required for filling the allotment preferences. The site will also soon have facilities for the students who get admitted to the 2011-15 batch of engineering to get details of the present scheme of syllabus of all engineering branches in the five universities. It will also make available the study materials for the same. The study materials will include a wealth of interactive videos, dynamic study tools and software which will provide answers to the various mathematical and calculative problems encountered in the different branches of engineering studies. These materials to be included in the website are being provided by senior lecturers and professors of leading colleges such as College of Engineering, Trivandrum; SCT College of Engineering; Government Engineering College, Barton Hill; Model Engineering College, Ernakulam and Government Engineering College, Thrissur.
