BELLARY: Senior BJP leaders who are worried over taking action against those party leaders supporting B Sriramulu - who filed his nomination papers in Bellary as an independent candidate - have a newer reason to worry about. J Shanta, Bellary MP and Sriramulu’s sister, has decided to throw her weight fully behind her brother and has dared party leaders to expel her.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event here on Thursday, Shantha said: “My brother has resigned from the BJP abiding by his conscience. Sriramulu and G Janardhana Reddy built the party in Bellary; we will continue to support them till the end, even if the party expels us.”She said that a majority of the elected representatives in Bellary have extended their full support to Sriramulu, and there was no question of their going back. “We will ensure that Sriramulu wins by a record margin.”In the meantime, Shantha held a meeting with supporters of the Reddy clan, especially women, in Bellary on Thursday.Since Sriramulu’s supporters have converted the old BJP office at S P Circle into Sriramulu’s new office, loyal BJP workers are said to be searching for a new building to house the party office.Minutes after Sriramulu’s declaration came in, his supporters removed the BJP flag and posters of other leaders placed inside the office. The remaining few loyal BJP leaders in Bellary are said to have started searching for a suitable building to house the party office in Bellary, in view of the large contingent of leaders descending on Bellary to campaign for their candidate. Party workers have been asked to make other arrangements as well.
