Speed up renewal of licence: Mayor

BANGALORE: Mayor Sharadamma on Thursday directed all the eight Zonal Joint Commissioners of the city to speed up the process of renewal of trade licence.Chairing a meeting of Health Department here, she said last year, the BBMP had planned to issue three lakh licences and only 48,000 licences were issued. In the current year, as many as 55,000 traders have been identified and the process of issuing licences as well as renewal of licences is on, she explained. The Joint Commissioners were told to convene meetings of their respective zones and hasten the process of issuing trade licences. The Mayor said a meeting comprising Deputy Mayor, Chairmen of various Standing Committees will be convened every month. Accordingly, the next meeting will be held on December 20 to review the progress. BBMP Commissioner H Siddaiah said shops being run with licence should be identified and trade licences should be issued. The shops which do not have licences should be identified and they should be prevented from continuing business till they obtain licences.
