KOCHI: As part of the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations on Sunday, the Students Police Cadet (SPC) from 11 schools in the city held clean-up and tree planting drives across Kochi.“The programme was part of a state-level project by the SPC to encourage kids to take up issues pertaining to environmental protection. The project also requires each student to plant and take care of at least one tree a year. Each school has a group of 88 student cadets who take care of these projects,” said the nodal officer in charge of SPC in Kochi. The Students Police Cadets cleaned the Government Hospital at Thoppumpady while those at Kalamassery concentrated more on tree planting.The students also participated in essay writing competitions on Mahatma Gandhi. Movies on the life of Bapu were also screened for the students.
