Son rubbishes reports of Sunanda committing suicide
"Anyone who knew my mother would simply know that she was too strong to commit suicide," read the statement issued by Shiv Menon.

New Delhi: Speaking for the first time since his mother's death, Shiv Menon in a statement said on Tuesday that Sunanda Pushkar was too strong to commit suicide. He also expressed his shock over the theories related to her death doing the rounds in media.

"Anyone who knew my mother would simply know that she was too strong to commit suicide," read the statement.

He also rubbished reports of disharmony in Sunanda's marriage to Union HRD Minister Shashi Tharoor saying that the two were very much in love.

The post-mortem report suggested that the death of Sunanda Pushkar could be due to drug overdose. On this, Shiv Menon said, "It was an unfortunate combination of media stress, tensions and a wrong mix of different medications."

He also appealed to the media to stop scrutinising her death. "Please let her soul rest. I think there has been enough attention drawn towards her in life, let us at least let her rest in her passing," he said.

"Sunanda's death was peaceful, she passed in her sleep," the statement added.

Union Minister Shashi Tharoor is under the scanner over Sunanda's death. Her son however, puts an end to all the speculations saying, "Do not believe that Shashi was capable of harming her let alone the speculation that he could have taken her life."

Sunanda was found dead on Friday evening at Delhi's Leela Palace Hotel. She had been suffering from emotional turmoil as well as physical ailments like Lupus and stomach TB. Her body was found by Shashi Tharoor at around 8:30 PM on Friday evening in their hotel room number 345 after he returned from the All India Congress Committee meeting.

Just 12 hours ago, Sunanda had been embroiled in a very public spat on Twitter. The Twitter war was nothing short of sensational. It started after a string of tweets from Shashi Tharoor's Twitter handle which was apparently hacked and then from Sunanda. The tweets were Mehr and it was followed by a response from Mehr Tarar.

Sunanda had accused Mehr Tarar of having a relationship with her husband. She had accused Tarar of stalking her husband and of being an ISI agent. "We have a hacker and she is stalking my husband. She has hacked into my husband's computer, into my computer. She is an ISI agent," Sunanda Pushkar had said on Thursday.

Finally, a Facebook post from the couple claimed that all was well. Yet just 12 hours later after the post, Sunanda was dead.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) probing the Sunanda Pushkar death case has ordered a further inquiry into the case, ruling out a clean chit to her minister husband Shashi Tharoor.
