SIT intensifies probe into murders

THODUPUZHA: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday intensified its evidence collection in connection with the murders of three Congressmen in Idukki in the early 1980’s. “The SIT, along with the police, was engaged in the exercise in Munnar and Kattappana sub division areas,” senior police sources said.     Details are being collected from the relatives of the three victims-Anchery Baby, Mullanchira Mathai and Muttukad Nanappan. According to the sources, it is a tough job to trace those who could give relevant information, as many who could help the police had migrated to other places and the remaining are not alive or are ailing.     The sources said that the  probe is in its early stage. The police are waiting for the court nod to reopen the cases for further probe.
