KOCHI: Moving closer to the reconstruction of the north rail overbridge (ROB), the administrative sanction for the reconstruction of KSRTC garage and the filling up of 1500 square metre of land has been issued. Moreover, the shops below the North ROB will  be vacated by next week to allow dismantling work to start. The decisions were taken at a high-level meeting held here on Monday. The officials concerned also informed that repair works have been completed in 4 of the 10 designated roads for traffic diversion. The Corporation, the Kerala State construction Corporation and the police have been asked to submit a report on Saturday regarding the state of all the traffic diversion. Plans are afoot to begin the dismantling of the north ROB by the middle of next week as soon as a positive report is received.A sum of Rs. 5.37 lakh has been sanctioned for the police to obtain necessary equipment for traffic diversion. Fifty percent of the signboards for traffic diversion has been delivered to the Traffic Assistant Commissioner of Police. The Corporation has been asked to remove all the lamp posts and advertisements on the north ROB. A list of shop owners whose entry and exit will be affected during the dismantling of the bridge, is also being prepared to minimise the inconvenience caused to them.
