Agadir, Morocco: Shiv Kapur lost his way on back-nine but kept his scores steady and ensured he would make the midway cut at the Trophie Hassan II golf in Morocco.
Kapur, who had a topsy-turvy first round had a similar day in the second round. He had rounds of 70 and 71 in his first two rounds to stay inside top-20, but that will change with the others, including fellow Indian Gaganjeet Bhullar (67 in first round), yet to start his second round.
Kapur, who earned his way into the main European Tour, with two wins on the European Challenge Tour last year, has found the going tough on the front half of the Golf du Palais Royal course on both days. On the first day, he was three-over for the front nine with two birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey but made up with a stunning streak of four in a row from 14th to 17th to finish at two-under 70.
On the second day, Kapur birdied the 10th, just as he had on first day, and also birdied the 12th, before finding three more in a row from 15th through to 17th at which point he was five-under through eight holes. But he dropped his first shot of the second day on 18th.
On the second nine, the front half of the course, he dropped bogeys on first and second, just as he done on first day, and seventh to come down to a round of 71 and a total of three-under 141 at tied 20-the with much of the field yet to finish. Gaganjeet Bhullar, who shot a five-under 67 on first day, was playing in second half of the day in second round.
Alejandro Canizares carded a career-low round of 62 to claim the lead after the first round of the Troph?e Hassan II and he was five-under through 17 holes in second.
He was three ahead of Seve Benson, who opened the tournament with a 63, was at 13-under through 15 holes in second round after being four-under for second day.
