BANGALORE: Security on the Karnataka High Court (HC) premises has been tightened by posting armed police guards round-the-clock and installling additional metal detectors to check the entry of unauthorised persons into the complex.Close on the heels of a report published in The New Indian Express about loopholes in security system in HC complex on December 22, 2011, especially after Winter Vacation of the court, the authorities concerned have tightened the security. All loopholes mentioned in the story have been addressed by the Police Department. The cops with the rifles are posted 24X7 and the entry is restricted to unauthorised persons. Even the vehicles of media persons are not allowed inside the court premises. The luggage scanning detectors at the entry points are now functioning. Additional metal door detectors have been installed. This has been done after the report mentioned about the absence of metal detectors on the HC premises from the canteen side. Now police constables with hand metal detectors are deputed to frisk each and every person who enters the high court.New halogen pool lights have been installed all around court premises. This helps in recording the clear images of all those who enter the premises during night. The report had mentioned that closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were working only during day but not catching the images in night due to poor visibility.
