Banka (Bihar): Three Naxals were shot dead on Saturday in an encounter with the security forces at Katoria in Bihar's Banka district, a police officer said.
"Acting on a tip off, the security forces comprising CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and SAP (Special Auxiliary Police) jawans surrounded a house in Majhidih village where about a dozen Naxals were hiding," Acting Superintendent of Police BK Das said.
Upon being asked to surrender, the Naxals cadre opened fire on the security forces who retaliated.
The encounter between the security forces and the ultras was still going on, Das said.
The security forces had earlier in the day arrested a Naxal, identified as Devan Tuddu, a native of Kaithavaran village when he was trying to escape, he said.
