AMALAPURAM: The kidnapping of a student in broad daylight in the town on Tuesday, created quite a sensation. Gokavarapu Naga Vivek (12) was kidnapped when he was going to school after lunch. The boy had appeared for an examination in the morning and had gone home for lunch.After the kidnapping the abductors first made a call to the Vivek’s father Gokavarapu Srinivas at 5 p.m. and demanded Rs 5 lakh as ransom. They promised to release the boy once the ransom was paid. They also warned the father not to inform the police. But, Srinivas along with school correspondent Ravanam Rambabu lodged a complaint with the police. The police have constituted special teams and are searching for the kidnapped boy. The police have traced Vivek’s cycle at a mobile shop, near his house and the police have vital clues that the boy went went with a person on a Libero motorcycle and parked the boy’s cycle at the mobile shop. Later kidnappers made phone calls from various phone booths. Later in the night they ordered Srinivas to bring money to Balayogi ghat. The boy’s father Gokavarapu Srinivas is a Pepsi company dealer. Naga Vivek is student of seventh standard at Sir C V Raman public school.Speaking to Express, DySP Sridhar said that it was a clear case of kidnapping for ransom. Special teams are out trying to trace the boy.
