KASARGOD: K P Satheesh Chandran has been unanimously re-elected as the district secretary of the CPM at its conference at Kalikkadavu on Wednesday.The state leadership of the party has evolved a consensus on the election of the party secretary to avoid contest in the party. As many as five members were newly inducted in the district committee while four members were dropped.Those newly-elected to the district committee were Kanhangad area secretary M Pokklan, Thrikkapripur area secretary V P P Mustaffa, Mahila Association president M Lakshmi, Manjeswaram area secretary K R Jayanandan and Eleri area secretary Sabu Abraham. Those dropped from the committee were: Thrikkaripur MLA K Kunhiraman, A V Ramani, Sreenivasa Bhandary and A Abubacker. K Kunhiraman MLA was dropped from the committee since he is already a state committee member. Ramani and Abubacker had reportedly expressed their willingness to discontinue as district committee members.DYFI leader V V Ramesan was dropped from the district committee following the controversy on his daughter’s seat at the Pariyaram Medical College.K P Satheesh Chandran, who was twice elected to the state Assembly from the Thrikkaripur constituency rose in the party rungs as an activist of the SFI.
