KOCHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has demanded Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to ask the Centre to conduct an inquiry into the Marad riots of 2003, involving the Intelligence Bureau, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. In a resolution, the RSS has demanded that Chandy should seek a combined inquiry by the Intelligence Bureau, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence as recommended by the Marad Commission. Though there were several provocative circumstances, the Hindu community had maintained restraint that had led to peace in the area, the resolution said. Stating that the stand taken by the Centre for not adhering to the demands by the Assembly and the state government for a CBI inquiry was quite apprehensive, the RSS said only a CBI inquiry could unfold the truth behind the “larger conspiracy” involving fundamentalist and other forces.
